Just 20 miles from Richmond, Pocahontas offers boating, picnicking, camping, camping cabins, plus miles of trails, and nature and history programs. The Aquatic Center, which has a toddler pool, fountain wet deck, three-foot and five-foot-deep leisure pools, an activity pool and two tubular water slides, affords seasonal water-based activities for all. Three lakes offer plenty of fishing. Boat rentals are available seasonally by the acre Swift Creek Lake. The Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, dedicated to Depression-era workers who helped build the state park system, is one of a handful in the nation. Two dining halls may be rented for meetings, weddings and special events. Rustic group facilities with primitive overnight cabins bunkhouses are available seasonally for larger groups.

Spent one night here on our way to Washington NC. Beautiful park with lots of Camping spots Pocahontas state park- campground is huge, beautiful large sites to smaller quaint hide aways Water park part was crowded and very ackward feeling the kids were stand off ish about entering water with a crowd of that many and I don't think I will ever go back just not an enjoyable expierence. I am sorry you had a bad experience. The swimming area is not crowded all the time. Was your visit over 4th of July maybe?

Pocahontas State Park is the largest state park in Virginia, with over 64 miles of multi-use trails, three lakes, camping, and two dining halls, just to name a few amenities. With so many different options to choose from, how can one plan anything? The Civilian Conservation Corps men are the reason we are able to enjoy state parks today. During the New Deal Era, these men were charged with the task of building up the parks to conserve natural resources and so that they could be enjoyed by everyone. Throughout the nine years of operation, the maximum number of officers was around , One of the best forms of stress relief is spending a quiet day on the water surrounded by nature.
It offers more than 50 thrilling rides and attractions, ten main stage shows, a wide variety of authentic cuisines and shops. The Sesame Street play area is complete with kiddie rides, a junior roller coaster, 4-D movie, and a special dining area with Elmo and friends. There is also a special Preschool Pass for kids that live in Virginia. It offers unlimited admission thru Labor Day, but registration is required. The park offers a surf shop and gift shop, several restaurants, locker rental, bathhouse facilities and free use of life vests and inner tubes.

I don't know about the rest of the facilities, but we found the water park nice and the staff friendly and helpful.
